ABOUT AIESEC IN LEGON AND GHANA

AIESEC in LEGON counts as one of the 2,400 Universities which harbor this organization and for the past 52 years, dedication and commitment have been given to delivering quality member, leadership and exchange experiences.
The root of AIESEC in LEGON dates as far back as 1961 when the first President of the Country, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah introduced it into the Premier University of Ghana. The story behind the introduction of AIESEC to LEGON has always been described as an interesting one.
On his return home from a conference, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah encountered one fellow President from South Africa who was primarily going to introduce AIESEC to South Africa. After hours of talk and finding the relevance of AIESEC from the fellow, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah thought it wise to bring it over to his motherland and for the first time in Africa and in Ghana, AIESEC started operating in LEGON. As a representing country, AIESEC GHANA was also assumed to have started operations the minute AIESEC in LEGON commenced and this has over the years suggested a similar history shared between these two parties.
For the first few years of its introduction, AIESEC in LEGON was managed by foreigners who helped to build the foundations of the organization in the country. Natives beginning with Vincent and Enoch Marfo took over after and served as very strong native pioneers of the operations, precisely as Member Committee Presidents (MCPs) respectively.
With the remarkable performances of respective leaders including, Belinda Aikins, George Nana Osei, David Agyemang, and Edna Kavi, AIESEC in LEGON has over the years seen tremendous growth both in the quality and quantity of member, leader and exchange experiences and was therefore no news to have received the accolade as the Role Model Local Committee (LC) in West Africa in 2012. Successively, we have emerged as the BEST LC in Ghana for a number of four (4) times since 2008; currently taking the 2013 Best LC of the year, and even promises to maintain this in subsequent terms.
